Abstract

Nos ovinos, o período de anestro pós-parto condiciona a eficiência da gestão dos efectivos. Neste sentido, realizou-se primeiramente uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema. O regime de amamentação é um dos factores que mais afecta a retoma da actividade ovárica pós-parto. Neste trabalho, estudaram-se os possíveis efeitos de três regimes diferentes de amamentação – ovelhas acompanhadas permanentemente pelas suas crias (Testemunha), ovelhas acompanhadas pelas suas crias apenas durante a noite (Nocturno) e ovelhas que amamentaram as suas crias apenas em dois momentos do dia (Bi-diário), sobre a retoma da actividade ovárica pós-parto. Para o efeito utilizaram-se 59 ovelhas adultas da raça autóctone portuguesa Churra Galega Bragançana, que pariram sem qualquer problema. Os partos ocorreram durante o mês de Outubro 2013. A actividade ovárica pós-parto foi avaliada através dos níveis plasmáticos de progesterona. A primeira elevação dos níveis plasmáticos de progesterona acima dos 0,5 ng/ml registou-se 31,6 ± 10,2 dias após o parto. Na maioria das ovelhas, a duração da primeira fase lútea foi de curta duração 7,7 ± 6,7 dias. O regime de amamentação não afectou significativamente a retoma da actividade ovárica pós-parto.
