Avaliação das dificuldades dos cuidadores informais de idosos dependentes

Abstract

O cuidador informal ao assumir a responsabilidade do cuidado depara-se muitas vezes com dificuldades e situações constrangedoras que lhe provocam algum desconforto e mal-estar. Este projeto de intervenção visou: avaliar as dificuldades dos cuidadores informais de idosos dependentes residentes em duas freguesias rurais do distrito de Bragança; identificar as áreas onde os cuidadores informais apresentam maiores dificuldades; contribuir para a melhoria da prestação do cuidado informal. Desenhou-se um estudo quasi-experimental recorrendo à metodologia quantitativa. Iniciou-se com o diagnóstico das dificuldades percecionadas pelos cuidadores utilizando o Índice das Dificuldades do Cuidador (CADI). Posteriormente elaborou-se um programa de intervenção com a realização de seis sessões formativas/informativas, seguindo-se uma nova aplicação do CADI, comparando os dados com os obtidos na fase de diagnóstico. Os resultados obtidos evidenciam que os cuidadores apresentam dificuldade em lidar com a dependência do idoso, sobretudo, por falta de formação/preparação. Após o plano de intervenção verificou-se uma diminuição estatisticamente significativa nas médias de dificuldades. Concluímos assim pela efetividade dos programas de intervenção junto destes cuidadores.
