Abstract

Se trata de una investigación cualitativa que discute la polisemia de los términos parto natural, normal y humanizado. Analiza la perspectiva de la teorización cultural contemporánea y de los Estudios de Género, el Programa de Humanización del Parto y del nacimiento y de los contenidos de entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas con profesionales de medicina y de enfermería que se desempeñan en un hospital escuela en el interior de Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. El presente artículo destaca y aprovecha las convergencias, ambigüedades, superposiciones y conflictos entre las tres tipologías de parto, indicando polisemias y la supresión de fronteras entre los términos y en el interior de cada uno de ellos que inciden sobre la asistencia que se presta.

This qualitative investigation discusses homonymy of the terms natural, normal, and friendly childbirth and their effects on childbirth care. Under the perspective of the contemporary cultural theories and gender studies, the Program for Humanizing labor and delivery are analyzed, based on the contents of semi-structured interviews with physicians and nurses of a training hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This article highlights and explores convergences, ambiguities, overlaps, and conflicts among these three delivery types, indicating polysemies, and blurring of boundaries among terms and inside each term, which influence care.

Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa que discute a polissemia dos termos parto natural, normal e humanizado. Analisa na perspectiva da teorização cultural contemporânea e dos estudos de gênero, o Programa de Humanização do Parto e do Nascimento e os conteúdos de entrevistas realizadas com profissionais da medicina e da enfermagem que atuam em um hospital no interior do Rio Grande do Sul. O artigo destaca e explora convergências, ambigüidades, sobreposições e conflitos entre as três tipologias de parto, indicando polissemias e borramentos de fronteiras entre os termos e no interior de cada um deles que incidem sobre a assistência prestada.
