Abstract

This paper originated from a literature survey to identify tools for assessing Health Literacy in Brazil, which were submitted to Content Analysis (Bardin). The relationship between health literacy and information literacy was observed since both encompass a set of skills that support people in the search, evaluation, and use of the information they require. This enabled us to consider the possibility of libraries acting to improve levels of health literacy, based on information literacy, thus contributing to developing people’s skills in their relationship with health information, improving their health management.
