In Campo Geral, the first novel of Corpo de Baile (1956), Guimarães Rosa, there is a tension between modern fiction and the archaic narrative, as well as between naivete and maturity. In the character of Miguilim, we find a modern representation of a complex subjectivation and a point of view of a child through which presents an archaic matter, the life of a boy on a distant farm in the hinterland of Minas Gerais. In the narrative of initiation, the stages (illness, suffering, loss ...) tend to be subsumed as parts of the trajectory. There is a scene of extreme violence, however, when the father assaults the child, which is singled out as a non-surmountable scar to become the necessary stage in the formation.

Na personagem de Miguilim, encontramos uma representação moderna que traz subjetivação complexa e o ponto de vista de uma criança, através dos quais se apresenta uma matéria arcaica, a vida de um menino em uma fazenda remota do sertão mineiro. Na narrativa de iniciação, as etapas (doença, sofrimento, perda...) tendem a ser subsumidas como partes da trajetória. Há uma cena de violência extrema, no entanto, quando o pai agride o filho, que se singulariza como cicatriz não superável para se tornar etapa necessária na formação.
