O TEMPO COMO FATOR DE OPACIDADE DA TRADUÇÃO

Abstract

This text is based on two theoretical principles. The first considers that translation is a language phenomenon that needs to be articulated to a general theory of language (cf. STEINER, 2002) to be properly addressed. The second argues that, in large measure, translation comprises the notion of interpretation (cf. STEINER, 2002). Based on these principles, we seek to develop the hypothesis that time may be an opacity factor (cf. RÉCANATI, 1979) of meaning in a translation. The data used for the analysis comes from prefaces/afterwords by Brazilian translators that emphasize aspects related to time in translation.
