Neopentecostalismo : dinheiro e magia

Authors: Oro, Ari Pedro;

Neopentecostalismo : dinheiro e magia

Abstract

In the current Bra:zilian religious jield, Neopentecostalism constitutes one of the most controversial religious e.xpressions, especial!), because of the significant amount of space allotted to magicai andfinancial practices. This text discusses precisely the issue of money and magic ia this rebgious segment. It reveals the ethical clashes that such practices have been unleashing, and argues âat the controver:ries result from actual neopentecostal ethics, which tend to .destabilke and recreate relatively consensual borders. Examples of such borders are those established between what is deemed religious and secular, magica/ and religious, between magic and ethics, and even the ones related to the use and signOcance of money ia the religious field.
