Leishmaniose Canina

Abstract

Deste modo, é imprescindível a adoção de medidas de prevenção e controlo desta doença; Canine Leishmaniosis - Abstract: The first part of the present report describes the activities carried out by the author during her internship in the area of clinical and surgical care of companion animals, specifically dogs and cats. The second part consists of a literature review and description of a clinical case on canine leishmaniosis, caused by the protozoan Leishmania infantum. This disease is highly relevant in the field of parasitic diseases due to the wide range of clinical manifestations that animals can present, making the diagnosis complex and challenging. In turn, given it’s a vector transmitted zoonosis with an increasing incidence, canine leishmaniosis is a concerning public health topic. The implementation of prevention and control measures is, therefore, essential.
