Abstract

Envelhecimento: Perspetivas As estimativas e projeções demográficas divulgadas por várias organizações / instituições, quer nacionais, quer internacionais, como por exemplo, a Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), a Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU), o Banco Mundial (BM), a Organização para a Cooperação e Desenvolvimento Económico (OCDE), a Comissão Europeia (CE), o Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE), a PORDATA, entre outras, têm mostrado um aumento do envelhecimento contemporâneo, que influencia o desenvolvimento da sociedade e o planeamento da assistência à saúde. A análise do fenómeno do envelhecimento é apresentada neste capítulo segundo duas perspetivas: (i) a demográfica ou coletiva (secção 1) e; (ii) a individual (secção 2), cujo contexto norteará.
