Desbastes em povoamentos de pinhal manso

Abstract

As árvores vigorosas são menos suscetíveis a ataques de agentes patogénicos e mais resistentes a episódios de seca. Este objetivo pode ser alcançado mantendo uma competição reduzida entre indivíduos, diminuindo a densidade na instalação do povoamento e reduzindo periodicamente a densidade para aumentar o espaço de crescimento disponível para cada indivíduo. A implementação de um regime de desbastes reduz a competição por nutrientes e água, permite manter árvores vigorosas, com bons crescimentos, melhora a sua estabilidade, diminui o risco de danos por eventos extremos e/ou por perturbações como o fogo.
