Microtus lusitanicus rato-toupeira

Abstract

Espécie de hábitos fossadores. Ocupa diversos habitats, desde prados ou pastagens com elevada cobertura herbácea, áreas agrícolas (pomares, olivais, outras culturas), bermas ou sebes,até habitats semi-urbanos (relvados de jardins; Santos et al. 2010b, 2011). Prefere áreas com solos macios e húmidos, onde constrói galerias subterrâneas (Mira & Mathias 2007, Santos et al. 2011). Pode ser encontrada desde o nível do mar até 2000 m de altitude (Serras de Gredos e Pirenéus; Mira & Mathias 2007). Dieta herbívora constituída por geófitos (bolbos, raízes e rizomas) e folhas e caules de herbáceas (Mira & Mathias 2007).
