Melanoma em equinos

Abstract

This report was carried out within the scope of the curricular internship of the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine of the University of Évora and is divided into three parts: a report on the case series observed and monitored in the areas of preventive medicine and animal identification, reproductive, medical and surgical clinics, containing a brief description of the most frequently observed diseases and/or those of interest to the author; a monograph on melanoma in horses, one of the most common cutaneous neoplasms in horses, with a higher prevalence in geriatric animals; and a presentation of two clinical cases that the author had the opportunity to follow. The clinical cases describe the procedures carried out in a case of dermal melanoma and a case of dermal melanomatosis. The treatment for both cases was surgical removal, which is more complex in the case of dermal melanomatosis, where it was impossible to completely remove the masses, which could subsequently lead to recurrences.
