O tratamento ideal passa por um período de tratamento médico para reverter os efeitos de estimulação adrenal, seguida de remoção cirúrgica; - Pheochromocytoma in dogs Abstract: The current report was written as a part of the conclusion of the Integrated Master’s degree of Veterinary Medicine of Universidade de Évora and it is divided in two sections. The first section is related to the followed clinical cases during the curricular internship in ÉvoraPets’ from September 19th of 2022 to February 5th of 2023. The second section consists of a monograph about pheochromocytoma in dogs, followed by the description of a clinical case. Pheochromocytoma is a neuroendocrine catecholamine producing tumor, originated in the adrenal gland’s medulla. It is rare in companion animals and its diagnosis is not easy since it shows little to no clinical signs. The most common diagnostic test used is the measurement of urinary or plasma metanephrines. The ideal treatment involves a medical therapy period to reverse the effects of adrenal stimulation, followed by surgical removal.
