Abstract

Algumas reflexões e implicações, face às experiências e significações dos/as participantes, são discutidas; - Experiences of Sexuality and Well-Being: A study in emerging adulthood Abstract: This study aimed to explore and understand how the experience(s) of sexuality may relate to the experience(s) of well-being for the emerging adult participants. We adopted a phenomenological perspective and an interpretive-constructivist paradigm (Morrow, 2005), with a mutual construction of meaning between principal researcher and participant about the theme. Semi-structured individual interviews were conducted with 11 emerging adults in Portugal. For the systematization of the data, reflexive thematic analysis was carried out, according to the proposals of Braun and Clarke (2014, 2019, 2020), emerging six main themes that reveal a diversity of meanings and perspectives, highlighting the importance of relational aspects, namely the importance of intimate and close relationships with others and sexuality for well-being and/or self-esteem and viceversa; the negative influence of well-being on sexual experiences; the influence of social pressure on the relationship between the experiences of sexuality and well-being; and also the non-dependence of sexuality for a feeling of well-being. Some reflections and implications, in view of participants' experiences and meanings, are discussed.
