Abstract

A mentoria tem-se revelado cada vez mais importante enquanto ferramenta na gestão de recursos humanos, facilitadora do desenvolvimento profissional nas organizações. Os seus objetivos podem incluir o desenvolvimento dos colaboradores, a formação de novos colaboradores, planeamento de sucessões e o desenvolvimento de lideranças. Face à importância da temática e ao facto desta não ter sido ainda investigada no contexto de São Tomé e Príncipe, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi de estudar os efeitos das práticas de mentoria na Empresa de Água e Eletricidade (EMAE) no desenvolvimento profissional dos colaboradores, e identificar as condições necessárias para a construção de um programa de mentoria eficaz. Foram entrevistados 20 colaboradores da EME. Os resultados da investigação, incluindo de campo, permitiram concluir que os programas de mentoria da EMAE no desenvolvimento dos seus colaboradores, são imperativos considerando as especificidades técnicas e operacionais e a verticalidade dos processos de trabalho; - Mentoring and Professional Development in the Water and Electricity Company: A prospective study. ABSTRACT: Mentoring has proved to be increasingly important as a tool in human resource management, facilitating professional development in organizations. Your goals may include employee development, training new employees, succession planning and leadership development. Given the importance of the topic and the fact that it has not yet been investigated in the context of São Tomé and Príncipe, the objective of this work was to study the effects of mentoring practices at the Water and Electricity Company (EMAE) on the professional development of employees , and identify the necessary conditions for building an effective mentoring program. 20 EME employees were interviewed. The results of research, including in the field, led to the conclusion that EMAE's mentoring programs in the development of its employees are imperative considering the technical and operational specificities and the verticality of work processes.
