A gestão da Dor Aguda

Abstract

A dor constitui um desafio contínuo ao nível dos cuidados de saúde, sendo a sua intervenção/gestão um direito das pessoas e um dever dos profissionais de saúde. Quando persistente e de elevada intensidade pode prejudicar significativamente a saúde mental e física de um indivíduo, pelo que a avaliação apropriada da dor consiste no primeiro passo para o controlo da mesma. A relação da dor com o sofrimento merece, por isso, uma referência particular, na medida em que a negação e/ou desvalorização da dor do “outro” constitui um erro ético, assim como uma falha na excelência do exercício profissional.
