Esta dissertação teve como objectivo confirmar se a satisfação das necessidades nutricionais de um efetivo de vacas Mertolengas em energia e PB pela pastagem. Ainda foi possível entender como a variação destes fatores afeta a capacidade de ingestão e, consequentemente a capacidade de satisfazer as necessidades. Foram estudados 16 períodos, com duração e carga animal distintos, na Herdade dos Souséis. Observou-se uma grande heterogeneidade na pastagem, na quantidade e de qualidade. Relativamente à quantidade de pastagem disponível, registou-se o máximo de 2933,2 kg de MS/ha e o mínimo de 402,9 Kg MS/ha. Já na composição química, verificaram-se valores de PB bastante heterogéneos, com um coeficiente de variação de 41,09%, variando entre 17,89% e 4,65%. O NDF apresentou uma heterogeneidade moderada, com um coeficiente de variação de 23,15%, com um máximo de 76,33% e um mínimo de 37,24%; - "Modeling of the Use of Pasture by Mertolenga Cows" Abstract: The main goal of this dissertation is to confirm the satisfaction of the nutritional needs of a herd of Mertolenga cows in energy and CP by pasture.
