Abstract

O regadio é fundamental para a produção agrícola em Portugal. Os cenários de alterações climáticas que indicam um aumento da temperatura e diminuição da precipitação, combinados com práticas de rega pouco eficientes, permitem prever um risco acrescido de salinização dos solos. Neste trabalho, pretende-se avaliar o risco de salinização do solo em função das práticas de rega monitorizadas em culturas representativas do perímetro de rega do Roxo (amendoal, olival, clementinas) e da variabilidade climática atual. Os modelos SIMDualKc e HYDRUS-1D foram utilizados na simulação da dinâmica da água e sais no solo. Foram identificados, para cada cultura, os anos com necessidades de rega médias, altas e muito altas provenientes de dados de reanálise (1979-2020), assumindo uma probabilidade de não excedência de 50%, 80% e 95%, respetivamente. Os resultados indicam aumento de salinidade do solo na maioria dos cenários estudados, que a médio-longo prazo é prejudicial para as culturas e solo; ABSTRACT: Effects of climate changes on soil salinization: modelling case study on the Roxo irrigation area - Irrigation is fundamental for agricultural production in Portugal. Climate change scenarios indicate an increase in temperature and decrease in precipitation, which combined with inefficient irrigation practices, project an increased risk of soil salinization. In this work, it is intended to evaluate the risk of soil salinization as a function of irrigation practices monitored in representative crops of the Roxo irrigation district (almonds, olive groves, clementines) and of current climate variability. The SIMDualKc and HYDRUS-1D models were used to simulate the dynamics of water and salts in the soil. The years with medium, high, and very high irrigation needs were then identified for each crop from reanalysis data (1979-2020), assuming a probability of non-exceedance of 50%, 80% and 95%, respectively. The results indicate an increased risk of soil salinization for most of the scenarios studied, which in the medium to long term is harmful to crops and soil characteristics.
