Abstract

Introdução: A população mundial está a envelhecer. Os idosos em situação de dependência e fragilidade necessitam de cuidados e atenção, essencialmente daqueles que lhe são próximos, nomeadamente um familiar mais chegado que assume o papel de cuidador informal. Objetivo: Contribuir para a promoção do autocuidado dos cuidadores informais de idosos com dependência, numa das freguesias da área de abrangência de uma Unidade de Cuidados na Comunidade do Alentejo Central. Metodologia: Utilizada a metodologia de Planeamento em Saúde. Inquérito por questionário (WHOQOL-Bref.) e Escala de avaliação da sobrecarga do cuidador (Zarit). Resultados: Conclui-se após a análise dos dados que as necessidades mais identificadas são relativas ao défice de autocuidado, nomeadamente nas atividades básicas de sono e repouso, lazer e gestão emocional. Conclusão: No final da implementação do projeto, foram atingidos os objetivos e ficou demonstrada a importância da educação para a saúde como estratégia fundamental para aumentar a literacia em saúde dos cuidadores informais, promovendo o seu autocuidado e contribuindo para uma maior qualidade de vida; - Promotion of self-care for the Informal Caregiver ABSTRAT: Introduction: The world’s population is aging. The elderly in a situation of dependence and frailty needs care and attetion essentially from those close to them, in particular a close relative who assumes the role of informal caregiver. Objective: To contribute to the promotion of self-care for the informal caregivers of elderly with dependence, in one of the parishes of the area covered by a Community Care Unit in the Central Alentejo. Methodology: The planing methodology in health was used. Questionnaire survey (WHOQOL-Bref.) and Caregiver burden assessment scale (Zarit). Results: After analyzing the data, it is concluded that the most identified needs are related to the self-care deficit, namely in the basic activities of sleep and rest, leisure and emotional management. Conclusion: At the end of the implementation of the project, the objectives were achieved and the importance of health education was demonstrated as a fundamental strategy to increase the health literacy of informal caregivers, promoting their self-care and contributing to a higher quality of life.
