Abstract

O uso combinado de pentoxifilina e vitamina E é o tratamento mais utilizado; ABSTRACT: Small animal clinical practice: Ischemic dermatopathies in dogs The following report was written as part of the conclusion of the Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine, held by the University of Évora. It is organized in two different sections. The first one describes the activities followed during a four-month internship in the Hospital Veterinário Universitário de Coimbra. The second one is a literature review on ‘’Ischemic dermatopathies in dogs’’ along with the report of a case followed during the internship. Ischemic dermatopathies are a group of multiple vasculopathic syndromes united by identical clinical and histopathologic characteristics, besides having distinct primary causes. The clinical signs are due to the poor vascular function of the skin and may include alopecia, erosions, ulcerations and scaling. The most commonly used treatment is a combination of pentoxifylline and vitamin E.
