Consentimento informado em fisioterapia

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The informed consent, traditionally seen by the Bioethics as a rule deriving from the principle of autonomy, has evolved significantly in the last decades in the healthcare area. Aiming at identifying the specificities of the informed consent in Physiotherapy, a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research has been developed. A “representative intentional sample” of academicians from the Legal area, Bioethics and Physiotherapy was used. All of them having dedicated special attention to the informed consent issue throughout their professional careers. The process of information collection was based on semi-structured interviews. The script used was divided in four parts: Process of informed consent in Physiotherapy; Corresponding effects; Incentives and constraints; Strategies of action. After information description and interpretation through content analysis, a clarifying model of the informed consent in Physiotherapy has been elaborated in a pluridisciplinary perspective. The relationship established between the physiotherapist and the patient should be understood as a true partnership based on a solid informed consent process.
