Clínica de animais de companhia: prurido dermatológico no cão: abordagem diagnóstica

Abstract

The pruritus in canine dermatological disease: diagnostic approach The Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine demands the presentation of a final report. It includes a description of the medical and veterinary activities performed and assisted through-out the internship which took place at Montenegro Veterinary Hospital, in Porto. It also contains a literature review of The Pruritus in Canine Dermatological Disease: Diagnostic Approach and also a presentation of a clinical case of German Shepherd dog pyoderma. The pruritus is the most common clinical sign present in skin diseases. There are several classes of pruritus. This report emphasizes the pruritus originated by dermatologic disease in dogs, focusing on diagnostic approach. Itching control can prove to be a real challenge. Frequently, several pruritic skin diseases may be present simultaneously. It is important to adopt a sequential and thorough diagnostic approach that allows an early determination of the inherent causes of pruritus, trying to avoid the chronic course of the disease.
