Conjugalidade e violência: olhares de jovens universitários

Abstract

A problemática da violência conjugal é um tema cada vez mais visível e estudado, sendo actualmente considerado um crime público pela lei em vigor em Portugal. A violência conjugal engloba todas as formas de abuso que ocorrem de forma cíclica e com intensidade crescente entre os cônjuges. O presente estudo insere-se numa linha de pesquisa fenomenográfica que consiste em descrever, analisar e compreender as conceptualizações e experiências dos sujeitos sobre um dado fenómeno. Pretende-se desta forma conhecer as concepções de jovens estudantes universitários, quinze do sexo masculino e quinze do sexo feminino, sobre a conjugalidade e a violência conjugal. O método de recolha de dados utilizado foi a entrevista semi-estruturada. Os dados recolhidos foram submetidos a uma análise qualitativa e quantitativa. Os resultados obtidos revelam que a relação conjugal é conceptualizada maioritariamente como uma relação que pressupõe aspectos afectivo-relacionais e uma relação sentimental e diádica, em que os papéis do homem e da mulher devem ser iguais. A violência conjugal é entendida sobretudo como violência verbal, psicológica e física, sendo entendida como perpetrada tanto pelo homem como pela mulher. No entanto, é considerado que o homem é mais violento fisicamente e a mulher verbalmente. Segundo os participantes, as causas da violência conjugal, seja ela exercida pelo homem ou pela mulher, são vistas principalmente como associadas a sentimentos e/ou emoções como os ciúmes e a insegurança/desconfiança. Os resultados revelam não existir grandes diferenças entre as concepções dos dois sexos, nesta faixa etária, relativamente às concepções de conjugalidade e violência conjugal; ABSTRACT: The problematic of Conjugal Violence is a subject field increasingly studied and more known as time goes by. It is a public crime, so it is important to find out how society looks to this phenomenon. The present study aims to understand better Conjugality and Conjugal Violence, considering the conceptions of young college students, from the both sexes. So, the present research follows a phenomenographic line, which consists in describing, analyzing and understanding the experiences of the world. In order to collect the data, interviews were made. The data were submitted to a quantitative and qualitative analyses. Participants conceptualize conjugal relationship mainly as one with both affective and a relational aspect, as being a dyadic relationship and also as a sentimental one, in which, both man and woman, assumes similar roles. Conjugal violence is understood as verbal, psychological and physical violence, perpetrated by man or woman. Man is pointed out as more physically violent and woman as more verbally violent. In this sample, the causes of conjugal violence are directly linked with feelings and emotions like jealousy and insecurity/distrust. Results revealed that differences between the conceptions of both groups aren´t significant.
