Abstract

O estágio curricular, apresentado ao longo deste relatório, foi realizado no Hospital Veterinário do Restelo (HVR), decorrido entre 16 de Setembro de 2013 a 28 de Março de 2014, sob orientação científica da Doutora Margarida Fragoso Costa e coorientação do Doutor Diogo Magno, subdiretor clínico do HVR. O presente relatório de estágio é constituído por três partes, a casuística, monografia e casos clínicos. A casuística refere-se á observação de casos clínicos. A área clinica com maior representatividade foi a clínica médica (68,36%), onde a gastroenterologia e glândulas anexas foi mais frequente (15,73%). A maioria dos procedimentos foram realizados em canídeos (68.37%). A monografia, sobre o tema Leishmaniose canina, é uma zoonose causada pelo protozoário Leishmania infantum e transmitida por um flebótomo (Phlebotomus perniciosus e P.ariasi) distribuído no meio ambiente, sendo os canídeos os principais hospedeiros reservatório. É fundamental a sua prevenção, através da sensibilização dos proprietários, realizada pelos Médicos Veterinários; Abstract: Small animal medicine and surgery The traineeship presented in this report was conducted at the Veterinary Hospital of Restelo (HVR) elapsed between 16 September 2013 to 28 March 2014, under the scientific guidance of Dra Margarida Fragoso Costa and coorientation the Dr. Diogo Magno, assistant director of clinical HVR. This internship report consists of three parts, the casuistry, monography and case report. The casuistry will refers to the observed clinical cases. The clinical area with the largest representation was medical clinic (68.36 %), where gastroenterology and accessory glands was more frequent (15.73%). Most of the procedures have been performed in dogs (68.37%). A monography on the theme of canine leishmaniasis is a zoonosis caused by the protozoan Leishmania infantum and transmitted by a sandfly (Phlebotomus perniciosus and P.ariasi) distributed in the environment, being dogs the main reservoir hosts. It is crucial to its prevention by raising awareness of owners held by veterinarians.
