Abstract

O Partido Republicano Nacionalista (PRN) procurou ser uma alternativa conservadora ao Partido Republicano Português, partido hegemónico da I República. Este livro contextualiza e analisa a sua acção no centro do poder, no Parlamento e no Governo. São ainda analisadas as características do PRN referentes a quatro tópicos: organização interna, os membros, a elite e a sua ideologia. Após o início da Ditadura Militar o PRN entrou em decadência e a sua proposta de construir uma «República para todos os portugueses» desvaneceu-se, vindo a dissolver-se em 1935.
