Abstract

A partir do Estudo "Níveis de Leitura e escrita do 1.º ao 6.º ano de escolaridade" do Plano Nacional de Leitura, José Morais publicou, com a colaboração dos membros do grupo de trabalho encarregado do estudo, esta obra sobre o ensino da leitura, dirigida a professores e encarregados de educação. Nela descreve a aprendizagem da linguagem escrita, desde os primeiros contactos informais, em casa e no jardim de infância, passando pelas primeiras etapas do processo de aprendizagem e pelo ensino da leitura até à sua consolidação e, por fim, pleno domínio das capacidades de ler e escrever. A abordagem é clara e precisa, baseada nos mais recentes avanços no domínio da psicologia cognitiva e das neurociências cognitivas. Cada capítulo termina com uma secção de recomendações precisas e cientificamente fundamentadas.
