Abstract

El presente informe describe el estudio numérico realizado en una suspensión coloidal densa a través de un canal rectangular. En primer lugar se realiza una introducción acerca de la simulación de suspensiones coloidales, y se resumen investigaciones previas que han sido de interés para este proyecto. A continuación, se establecen los objetivos de este trabajo, y se presenta la metodología empleada, además de describir el escenario y los valores escogidos de los parámetros. Después se especifica el criterio empleado para determinar el estado estacionario en cada caso. En los resultados, se analizan tanto el perfil de velocidades, como el grado de orden del sistema, en función de la fracción volumétrica de las suspensiones y la intensidad de los potenciales empleados entre las partículas. Se concluye que, además del incremento de la fracción volumétrica, el potencial a largo alcance también induce la no-linealidad del flujo. Sin embargo, valores pequeños de dicho potencial ejercen el efecto contrario. Por otro lado, el grado de orden del sistema tiende a una cúbica simple para valores bajos del potencial a largo alcance, mientras que para valores mayores la estructura se asemeja más a una hexagonal. Finalmente, se proponen posibles líneas futuras surgidas a partir de esta investigación.
