Obtaining full, prompt payment for healthcare services rendered is critical for physicians and healthcare organizations. A little-known type of insurance--medical payments insurance--can help providers obtain payment for services provided to injured patients. Medical payments insurance riders are attached to some automobile insurance policies and to virtually all residential and commercial property insurance policies. In some instances, medical payments insurance can be collected directly from an injured patient's insurer, and determining fault is not an issue.
