Abstract

Käsillä olevan teemanumeron juuret ovat Tekniikan Waiheita -lehden musiikkiteknologian historiallisiin tarkasteluihin keskittyvän teemanumeron, parin vuoden takaisessa toimitustyössä (ks. Ojanen 2018). Vuonna 2017 lähetetty kirjoittajakutsu tuotti niin suuren määrän korkeatasoisia ehdotuksia, että kaikkien niiden sisällyttäminen tuohon teemanumeroon oli mahdotonta. Musiikkiteknologian alaan liittyviin tutkimusjulkaisuihin oli siis merkittävää tarjontaa, ja tästä syystä Musiikin toimitukselta tullut ehdotus jatkaa aiheen käsittelyä musiikkitieteellisellä foorumilla oli erittäin tervetullut.
