Abstract

El lenguaje económico ha trascendido al contexto académico. Actualmente es muy común escuchar en los medios de comunicación expresiones tales como: crecimiento de la economía, variación del PIB, inflación y crecimiento del IPC, entre otros términos. Sin embargo, estos conceptos no siempre son utilizados de manera precisa, e incluso en algunos casos son interpretados erróneamente. En este capítulo nos centraremos en definir y analizar las magnitudes más importantes de la Contabilidad Nacional. Comenzaremos por exponer el modelo de flujo circular de la renta, continuaremos con los indicadores adelantados y atrasados, el análisis del PIB y la Renta Nacional, variables reales y nominales, y concluiremos con el estudio de la inflación y la deflación. La deflación es la bajada generalizada del nivel de precios en un periodo determinado, pero no es un caso puntual, se trata de un proceso dinámico, normalmente acompañado de estancamiento (o peor, de recesión económica).
