Abstract

El videoarte se emplea como un ojo que mira hacia fuera, hacia el mundo exterior. Es un formato artístico que permite cuestionar y reflexionar sobre aspectos importantes que afectan a la sociedad y que los mass media tratan de ocultar. Es un medio idóneo para dar visibilidad a temas tabú, así como uno de los pocos medios visuales donde invertir los modos de representación tradicionales e insertar figuras oprimidas y reprimidas por la sociedad de consumo, en nuestro caso, por los circuitos artísticos convencionales.

La simbiosis entre el video y el cuerpo junto al hecho de poder filmar, manipular y transformar la imagen y el sonido han dado lugar a la experimentación audiovisual que permite la mutación de los cuerpos y la multiplicidad de identidades que constituyen al ser humano más allá de los modelos estereotipados y las identificaciones excluyentes. El videoarte sirve como “espejo social” sobre el que mostrar las contradicciones de las representaciones presentes en la cultura audiovisual contemporánea.
