Abstract

Es incuestionable el papel de la educación en la lucha contra el racismo y por el logro de la equidad racial. Sin embargo, aun la escuela no logra el trabajo esperado en la construcción de paradigmas sociales y culturales que permitan romper estereotipos en relación con el tratamiento de la racialidad. ¿Qué sucede en Cuba al respecto, país en el que no existe un racismo institucional y que aboga por la igualdad de todos los ciudadanos? ¿La enseñanza a niños y jóvenes aborda las relaciones interraciales en Cuba desde una visión histórica? ¿Qué ocurre en la escuela cubana en relación con la enseñanza de lenguas y la racialidad? ¿Cómo asumen esta realidad los profesores afrodescendientes que enseñan español como segunda lengua? Las respuestas a estos interrogantes son presentadas en el presente artículo que tiene como objetivo realizar una aproximación a la cuestión de la enseñanza del español como segunda lengua en Cuba desde la perspectiva de los profesores afrodescendientes. Partiendo de los conceptos de identidad racial y étnica y de valoraciones sobre el término afrodescendiente, se presentan los resultados de una indagación realizada con profesores universitarios afrodescendientes, quienes exponen sus puntos de vista al respecto de su condición de afrodescendientes y de cómo se tratan en las clases y textos de enseñanza del español como segunda lengua en Cuba la racialidad y la afrodescendencia.
