Nutrición enteral en el paciente crítico en presencia de alergias y/o intolerancias alimentarias

Abstract

Objetivos/Introducción Existen múltiples estudios en los que se calcula que alrededor al 60% de los pacientes que precisan atención en las unidades de cuidados intensivos (UCI) presentan algún tipo de complicación, siendo las más frecuentes la diarrea y el aumento de residuo gástrico (ARG). Esto puede darse por múltiples circunstancias, entre ellas, la elección de una fórmula adecuada según las intolerancias o alergias alimentarias del paciente. Por ello, nuestro objetivo es conocer dentro de los distintos productos nutricionales utilizados en nuestro hospital, ya sea como nutrición completa o como suplemento alimenticio, son aptos para los distintos pacientes con este tipo de patologías (sobretodo lactosa y glúten). Metodología/Observación clínica Se realiza una revisión de la ficha técnica de las distintas fórmulas enterales disponibles en el hospital, a través de la agencia española del medicamento (AEMPS) y la página de las distintas marcas.Se valoran un total de 42 fórmulas enterales, dividiéndolos según el tipo de producto (nutrición enteral completa o suplemento alimenticio). Resultados/Intervenciones De los 42 productos del grupo de nutrición enteral completa, 45,2% de ellos presentan lactosa, ninguno presenta gluten, y el 52,3% de otros alérgenos (principalmente soja). Conclusiones En el caso de los pacientes con algún tipo de intolerancia o alergia alimenticia, debemos tener especial atención en los componentes de los productos enterales que administremos, para poder prestar los mejores cuidados con seguridad y evitar complicaciones iatrogénicas.
