Para uma sociologia do conhecimento (Colaboração Especial)

Abstract

This article looks at some of the central issues facing the sociology of knowledge - in this case "knowledge" is seen as both a product and a producer of a certain historical, social and cultural reality. The author begins by offering some thoughts on what he calls the paradox of truth, the paradox of a sociology of sociology and the paradox of a sociology of science. He then goes on to debate the complex relationship between culture and knowledge and particularly to explore the case of scientific knowledge. He also seeks to demonstrate the close relationship between knowledge and power, which he suggests is not just a product of social inequalities, but also their producer.
