Formação profissional: empregabilidade no setor hoteleiro

Abstract

Knowledge and information, which are fundamental for corporate competitiveness and current society (ever more demanding), have been the subject of debate for several scholars in the sense of them being an essential tool to raise the professional qualifications and promote employability. Professional training which is one of the pillars for the qualification and improvement of skills is also a reference for many authors as a gateway to improve the possibility of entry in the labor market. As such this paper has as objective: measure the importance of professional training to qualify the work force and fill work posts in the hotel sector in Portugal The case study was conducted in three Portuguese hotels, via interviews and questionnaires with the workers in these establishments according with the sample made possible for this paper´s research. The data from the interviews was consolidated and analyzed as were the questionnaires processed through the system SPSS. The empirical analysis of this paper gauged the scholar and professional qualifications of the subjects as well as the impact of the training and professional experience in the hiring of workers in the hotel business, by considering the result of the information obtained through the interviews and questionnaires. The present paper does not pretend to exhaust the subject matter, since it is a scarcely explored theme with the possibility of further investigation in the hotel business.
