As comunidades locais no apoio socioeducativo das crianças

As comunidades locais no apoio socioeducativo das crianças

Abstract

The education of young children is not restricted to formal institutions, and it is necessary to consider all educational and social support that directly or indirectly, formally or informally affects their lives. It is therefore essential to articulate the involvement of the departments of health, education and social services that assist families in each community. The role of non-governmental organisations is very important in community life, as they help families care for their children. This question is particularly important in the case of preschool children. Using my experience as a consultant in some Portuguese-speaking African countries, particularly São Tomé e Príncipe, I reflect on the role of local social networks in responding to the education needs of the families of preschool children.
