Validação de competências, homogamia e dinâmicas familiares: Um estudo de caso

Abstract

Assim, o investimento no capital escolar favorece as relações familiares e estimula o autoconceito do indivíduo.

This study is based on a research that explores the family dynamics involving the process of Recognition, Validation and Certification of Competences, RVCC, which is the Portuguese program for validating formal, non-formal and informal learning. Chapter 1 is an overview of previously concluded literature reviews, focusing on homogamy. Chapter 2 presents the Novas Oportunidades initiative (New Opportunities), its connection with the RVCC process and family dynamics, and finally the objectives and methodology used in the research. The reconstitution of the educational, marital and familiar paths enrolled to RVCC in the greater Lisbon area is explained in Part III. Chapter 4 focuses on the influence of the total distances and shapes of familiar homogamic and heterogamic structures. Chapter 5 explores in more detail some of the family dynamics outlined in Chapters 3 and 4, based on the results collected in interviews with participants in the RVCC process. The findings indicate the prevalence of the homogamic rule amongst participants. Relatively to heterogamic marriages, the RVCC process reduces the educational gap in couples. Also, this study highlights the importance of close relatives as an active main motivator and supporter of the upgrade in the scholar project of the adult. The data analysis suggests that the RVCC process improves the interpersonal relationship among family members and that investment in education increases the self-esteem of the individual.
