Paternal involvement encompasses the father’s active and daily participation in the child’s life and is understood as a multidimensional construct that integrates practices of care, socialization, provision, emotional support, discipline, and educational and recreational activities. This involvement reflects the father’s individual and contextual resources and has been recognized as a key element for the child’s healthy development and for family dynamics. The present study aimed to analyze the relationships between paternal involvement and sociodemographic and religious variables in nuclear families living in the Northeast of Brazil, with children aged between two and five years. Participants were 83 fathers who independently completed the Paternal and Maternal Involvement Inventory (IEPM-29) and a sociodemographic and religious questionnaire. Regarding the multiple linear regression model tested, the model was significant, with the child’s age, father’s education, religiosity, and family income emerging as significant predictors of overall paternal involvement. These results reinforce the importance of individual and contextual factors in understanding paternal involvement.
