Abstract

This study investigates the dynamics of Brazilian singer Anitta's fandom in Portugal in the field of participatory culture and digital media engagement. Nine qualitative interviews were conducted with various fans in Portugal, analyzing how the fandom manages to go beyond passive consumption, transforming itself into an active community that creates, shares, and organizes itself around the singer. The results obtained reinforce the emotional ties, manifested mostly in collaborative practices such as collective streaming campaigns, voting, and digital mobilization, highlighting collective identity and a sense of belonging. There are also several internal challenges, such as conflicts over greater visibility and prominence within the fandom, which require inclusive strategies to ensure the sustainability and cohesion of the groups. This work contributes to a deeper understanding of fan communities, highlighting the importance of digital media as platforms that foster the creation, interaction, and affirmation of current cultural identity in a collaborative way.
