Healthcare professionals face various challenges related to the demands and conditions of their work, resulting in serious consequences for their well-being. The shortage of workforce, excessive workloads, and overtime, along with the harsh realities they encounter in their services, negatively impact their physical and mental health. Several studies indicate that these professionals are among the most affected when it comes to mental health, experiencing high levels of burnout, stress, and exhaustion. Moreover, they feel that their organizations do not care or provide resources for promoting their health and well-being. Thus, this study aims to understand the impact of wellness programs on healthcare professionals, exploring the factors that influence well-being, the actions taken by organizations for well-being, and the personal resources utilized by professionals, as well as what they identify as critical for improving well-being. In this regard, a qualitative study was conducted through 13 semi-structured interviews with healthcare professionals working in this sector. The collected data were subsequently analysed using the qualitative analysis software MAXQDA. The results indicate that despite the emphasis placed on promoting well-being, there is a pressing issue: the lack of human resources, which ultimately increases the perceived demands. Therefore, this problem must be mitigated to enable the effective implementation of wellness programs, with results that positively impact healthcare professionals.
