Homesickness nos trabalhadores imigrantes

Abstract

Homesickness is an emotional phenomenon commonly experienced by immigrant workers, which can directly influence their adaptation to a new country, performance in the workplace, and overall well-being. This study aims to investigate the factors contributing to the onset of homesickness. It employs a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews with immigrant workers living in various countries and working in diverse professional fields. The results reveal several intensifiers of homesickness symptoms, such as family distance, cultural differences, and language barriers. Additionally, the research highlights the importance of a strong social support network and psychological resources to mitigate feelings of loneliness and promote better integration into the new country. The conclusions discuss strategies employers can implement to create policies that foster a more welcoming work environment, supporting the needs of employees from different countries.
