Abstract

Nowadays, leadership is one of the most important and relevant components in organizations. The main objective of this study is to study the relationship between empowering leadership and turnover intentions, as well as the effects of affective commitment as a mediating variable in this relationship. Considering the variables under study (empowering leadership, turnover intentions and affective commitment), a mediation model was formulated, which reflects that affective commitment mediates the relationship between empowering leadership and turnover intentions. To carry out the study, this model was tested with a sample of 155 participants. It was concluded that empowering leadership is negatively and significantly correlated with turnover intentions, and that this relationship is explained by affective commitment. It was also found that empowering leadership is positively and significantly correlated with Affective Commitment.
