Aleatoriedade e incerteza na comunidade piscatória de Setúbal

Abstract

A aleatoriedade e a imprevisibilidade têm sido enfatizadas como elementos estruturantes das comunidades piscatórias. A pesca depende da exploração de um recurso natural móvel e de propriedade comum, dificultando o valor do trabalho e da produção, porque o rendimento dos pescadores depende das capturas e da divisão dos lucros, produzindo consequentemente uma precariedade permanente a quem depende da atividade para subsistir. Através de dados etnográficos da comunidade piscatória de Setúbal pretende-se compreender como se estabelece um quadro de incerteza endémica, integrando-o em processos mais amplos que se manifestam a nível local. Como a aleatoriedade e a instabilidade influenciam as práticas quotidianas? De que forma os pescadores e suas famílias lidam com essa incerteza e como a tentam minimizar? Mais do que fornecer respostas, pretende-se desenhar questões a partir dos discursos e práticas quotidianas para compreender como as pessoas constituem vida e projetam futuros em circunstâncias de incerteza.
