Abstract

The present study holds two major goals. On the one hand, perform a theoretical explanation of the Continual Improvement theme demonstrating its importance and benefits within a corporation’s management philosophy, applied as a contributing instrument to improving the processes’ efficiency and subsequent increase of the client’s satisfaction level. On the other hand, propose the introduction of a Continual Improvement focused model, an Idea Management System named ―Idea Central‖, at a service company, explaining the implementation methodology and inherent change of organizational culture. As a current theme, it shows itself as an effective instrument to cope with the cost containing challenges that organizations face nowadays. It is intended that by the end of this work, the reader should be aware of the Continual Improvement importance and underlying aspects, as well as recognize its impacts when implementing it in corporations and also that throughout the related experience he can carry out something to his own reality. The methodology utilized to perform this work followed two lines. The first one, a bibliographical and website research, in order to finding objective answers to the questions and problems raised. The research process involved extracting data from books, scientific magazines and websites. Data extracted from bibliographical sources made it possible for the study to presenting a thoroughly explanatory level. The second one, resulted from several interviews made to companies operating in Portugal focused on Continual Improvement. This approach allowed adding to the work an empirical element. This stage was followed by a filtering process in order to result in an objective and precise work, certainly exposed to opinion.
