Adaptabilidade Funcional. Interface de Alenquer

Abstract

With this dissertation is assumed as an aim the comprehension of the benefits of a functionally adaptable architecture in a context in which, the environment is a growing concern, ephemerality and transience prevail and functional abstraction, in opposition to functionalism, is closely identified with the current period. By means of a historical review of the architectonic culture, focusing on functional adaptability, and through examples of theorical idealizations and experiments, the factors that provide a higher or lower level of adaptability to a construction are identified, always regarding the context in which the project is embodied. Finally, is concluded that for now, architecture finds itself in a game changing process between the stationary and progressive, where the tecnological breakthroughs tend to provide an adaptability suitable to the current period conferring a match between the built environment and its social and physical surroundings.
