Abstract

The sexual abuse of children is an issue with a significant prevalence throughout the world, resulting in serious consequences for the victims, in the short, medium and long term. Although in the last years primary sexual abuse prevention materials for school-age children have been developed in Portugal (Agulhas, Figueiredo, & Alexandre, 2016), where the prevalence of abuse is higher, there are practically nonexistent materials that deal with the problem in the pre-school age, although literature shows advantages in developing, from an early age, knowledge and skills that protect the child, since they become capable of identifying abusive situations and reporting them. The present dissertation aims to present the formation of the program "Picos e Avelã à descoberta da Floresta do tesouro!", for children from ages 3 to 6 years old. Its construction was based on a needs assessment with 20 children’s educators, in which the objective was to analyze with them the best way to approach the subject. After its construction, materials were pre-tested by 25 kindergarten teachers. In addition to suggestions for the structure and contents of the program ("Guidance Manual", history and activities), these refer to being an important tool for working on personal protection skills and to make a school-family articulation on the theme. The program consists of 21 didactic activities, divided by six themes "My body", "Good touches, bad touches", "Emotions", "Good secrets, bad secrets", "Say yes, say no" and "Ask for help”, which are developed throughout the story and that are fundamental to working the subject
