Arquitetura popular em Mirandela.

Arquitetura popular em Mirandela.

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to study the Vale de Juncal village in Mirandela, by making an inventory of the typical “transmontana” houses, studying the constructive systems and the characteristic typologies in the Trás-os-Montes area. To understand the area where Vale de Juncal is, a description of the different regions of Portugal was made, with a special attention to the Trás-os.Montes area where this thesis is focused. Several typologies of the typical “transmontana” houses were identified in the Mirandela area. The most important traits are the external and internal typologies, as well as the constructive elements that are typical from this region. This thesis has 3 main chapters, which interline and bring together a wide range of topics, including a database that serves as a model for the case study. The main objective of this report is to spread the historical value of this place to its citizens. The main methodology used was direct analysis and photographic work of the constructions, since there wasn’t much information from the village available elsewhere. By making an inventory of the houses in this village, there is a general degradation in the stone infrastructures that used to be predominant in the region and the loss of many typological characteristics, with the appearance of new infrastructures.
