Abstract

Continuous medical education (CME) has been for centuries a key part in the lives of healthcare professionals. The company AST provides two immunosuppressive drugs, drug A and drug P, with the same action mechanism but with different specificities. Drug A shows better clinical outcomes in renal transplant, but drug P, in some situations, is chosen because of its lower price. This is causing a price erosion, having the hospital pharmacists’ influence on the choice of the drug. Due to this problem, in this paper it was designed a project of CME which pretends to transmit knowledge to the hospital pharmacists on the subject of renal transplantation and immunosuppression. Ultimately this knowledge is used by each participant on a daily basis to theoretically improve health outcomes produced by each one of them. The project has the following objectives: Structuring an action plan divided into three phases (experts meeting, CME and meetings of working groups on specific themes), affirming the independence of the CME’s speakers and KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders), minimize the price erosion of drug A, maintain drug A annual sales and establish a partnership with the hospital pharmacists. After the financial analysis, INSPIRE showed feasibility from the financial point of view and has been approved to move forward.
