Sociologia dos desastres

Abstract

Este artigo apresenta uma conceptualização dos desastres como processos não rotineiros de cunho socialmente relevante. Na primeira parte, reflectir-se-á sobre as dinâmicas de articulação entre o sistema social e o ambiente construído, como processos configurativos das causas sistémicas dos desastres. Na segunda parte, serão abordados os conceitos de vulnerabilidade social, culturas de desastres e as dinâmicas de desenvolvimento que enquadram analiticamente as dimensões sociais dos desastres. Numa óptica eminentemente tematizadora, concluir-se-á este artigo com a referência a três tipos específicos de protagonistas sociais e respectivos níveis de implicação, como agentes, directos e indirectos, dos desastres enquanto processos sociais.
