Perfis sociais juvenis na precariedade

Abstract

The labor market in the era of fordism was, essentially, characterized by the rigidity present in production patterns and consecutive practices of Henry Ford in an attempt to link the capital to labor. With the advent of the era of flexibility, at the time of the metaphor of liquid modernity by Zygmunt Bauman, under the preposition that space is an obstacle to the progress of time, we saw the emergence of precarity. The forms of precarious work, considered as a type of employment without status, non-standard or atypical, demystify the conception of employment for life and are opposing the terms of stability and security, putting in question the predictability of the future. Having regard to the fact that in Portugal the number of temporary contacts has increased, becomes relevant listening to the experiences of young people, between the ages of 20 and 35 years, with temporary employment contracts, in order to create social profiles juveniles on precarity. Launched the challenge, assuming as a problem how the precarity affects young people´s lives, their representations and expectations relating to personal and professional future, the research process followed a qualitative approach, were applied semi-structured interviews to 15 young people. In this sense, it was possible to determine 4 profiles: the passengers precarious, the discouraged precarious, the hesitant precarious and the stripped precarious.
